A brand that sticks. Literally. Sticker marketing is a playful and contemporary way to get your brand noticed. Depending on how you apply it, distributing stickers can add great value to your brand's visibility.

Sticker with a purpose

A sticker is easy to make, but before you start stickering, consider exactly what you want to achieve. For example, you can make a sticker with just your logo or company name on it, or go for spreading a message. Like posters, online ads and video advertising, it's helpful to think about exactly what you want to say with your sticker in advance.

A good example is the approach of the Brazilian gym "Companhia Athletica Gym," which had stickers designed that visitors could stick to the bottom of their shoe soles. The stickers featured texts such as "laziness," "stress" and "fat. Because the stickers are on the bottoms of athletic shoes, they wear off over time. As long as you exercise enough, the sticker disappears and with it the negative consequences of a bad lifestyle. Such innovative marketing campaigns also resonate with a younger audience.

Additional success of sticker marketing is that it need cost virtually no money.

Reap cheap success
Additional success of sticker marketing is that it need cost virtually no money. A famous example is the social news site Reddit. Founded in 2005 by two college students, the site gets 542 million visitors a month (!) and is valued at $1.8 billion. The costs incurred in marketing over all those years: $500 in stickers. Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian traveled a lot by bus and put the stickers on everywhere he went: road signs, lampposts, storefronts and even over other forms of advertising. He also handed out the stickers to everyone he encountered with the message ''Please sticker responsibly!'' Within no time, the Reddit sticker spread throughout the country.

Stickers are fun

Simple fact is that stickers are fun. In a coffee shop, library or school, look around you at the laptops you see. Chances are there are a few among them that are full of stickers. Even the average city is full of stickers; on walls and windows, bridges and doors. Also take a good look at the restroom in the pub or a music venue, a veritable walhalla of stickers. Putting a sticker has a childlike playfulness, and that feeling sticks with the recipient of the message. Therefore, an obvious tip: hand out stickers of your brand to all your customers. With any luck, these will spread your brand around the world for free.
